Order in the Court?

So we did a couple of court cases - Evie and I watched some videos about courts and read a book and we made note cards for each position in the court and what they do so that people could decide who they wanted to be! It was pretty cool.
The Case of the Stolen Cookies
The Case of the Turned off Movie
and a third one I can't remember. But I DO know we had a lot of fun and their were JUSTICE CUPCAKES for afterwards.. so that was really good.
I also see that mom still can't get the hang of laying one of these posts out and having photos in it.
Okay gotta go.

Wow it has definatly been a long time since we've updated this blog.
Really sorry about that.
Well, its time to restart things!
What better way than with a day in court
No, no don't worry, this was a FUN court. And it was in our house... with our friends and puppets... so it was okay... trust me.

Here, maybe its better if I start with HOW this came about...
It started when me (Sloan) learned about those 3 branches of government. Legis-latured? something like that... and the executive (you know thePresident?) and the judges. Well we didn't learn much about the judges, just the other two right, and I wanted to know what the judges one did... so mom asked if I wanted to do a court day.
Of course I said YEA! Cause court party!

Art Museum Adventure!

The adventures of Sloan and Evelyn!

Today we went to the Detroit Museum of Arts and got ice cream (not at the museum but after).

We saw different things and petted the donkey with the golden butt!

Here is Spiny with one of the outdoor sculptures ... and here is Evelyn looking at something (Mom note: This is the native american exhibit and she is playing with the map that shows how control of the land changed)

Here are our guests for our travelling, Ms. Sandy and Mr. Russ

Here we are touching the donkey with the shiny butt!
The only sculpture you can touch in the museum.

Sloan: Then we had lunch-I ate a chocolate sundae and had chocolate milk and guess what?
I had a picture with my Orca! He was helping me write my journal.
Evelyn: I'm showing spiny my journal and showing him how to write.

Sloan: Here I am eating our chocolate sundaes
and orca is swimming through the ocean                    Evie: I'm eating chocolate and so is spiny

Mr. Russ had to fight Spiny for his fries!

Ms. Sandy was able to eat before Spiny found her wings.

(Mom note: Now that the millage has gone through for the Arts Association the counties who voted yes get free admission to the DIA. So if you are in one of those counties and haven't gone, take an hour or two and head down to check it out)

Planes and more planes and some more planes and ... do you think there might be a spaceship?

Well Mommy just pointed out that Evie and me need to do more visiting around here and that we didn't post anything for a Really REALLY long time.

And I thought AIRPLANES!

Mommy got the information for this show which is REALLY close so we are going to go (yes!) and think you should too. Unless airplanes make you sick. Then you shouldn't.
But maybe you should try cause you can go for a ride in a REAL old plane and if you go to the site it counts down to the day... very cool.
That's all
Sloan

In honor of the DIA's 125th anniversary - we've hunted down the next painting.
Mom says this one is Judith and maidservent with head of Holofernes.

Anyone else hunting artwork?

The art hunt is on!

I think we talked about the DIA 125th anniversary art hunt! Go to this link for more information. But hurry, its only on through end of November! (https://sites.google.com/site/diainsideout/)

Well just outside of the Cranbrook Institute of Science is this cool art piece!

Its The Plaza San Marco by Canaletto

Go see what cool art you can find (and hey, these pieces you can touch without getting yelled at!)

Dinosaurs come to Bloomfield Hills!

So one of the great things about this area is Cranbrook (mostly cause while it always has cool stuff - about once a year or every two years they get cool dinosaurs. And if there's one thing Evie and I love... well its dinos.

So Evie and I finally got to go to the new dinosaur exhibit at the Cranbrook Institute of Science. Dinosaurs: Land, air and sea! http://science.cranbrook.edu/

Wow it was cool and spoooooky! So we went and saw the little play area first - till evie got comfortable with the noise. She's a baby so it takes her longer. They have these sounds as if you were actually there with them and your gonna get attacked! (Okay maybe not)

Mommy was impressed, I could immediately pick out the Dromaeosaurus, Protoceratops, Allosaurus and Elasmosaurus, velociraptor and some others. Then there were a bunch I hadn't heard off, like this one thats related to the dromaeosaurus but not its a bambi...saurus thingy.

Anyway it was really cool and we didn't have enough time (we went after school and only had an hour). We are harrassing mom to go back.

Dinosaurs!
We were all ROAR and they were all Roar and there were other ids and then BOOM ex- exc-all gone then more and they are really cool!

Oh and don't forget to look up!
